At Pigeon Forge High School, the Counseling Department offers comprehensive programs of services and informational resources for our students that extends to (and through) the entire PFHS Staff, the parents, and community. Of course, the order of importance first addresses the needs of the individual student. The Counseling Department consists of our two counselors, Eric Bohanan and John Griffis and one secretary, Brenda Whaley. The Counseling secretary is responsible for all student records and transcripts. The counselors work to provide all academic planning and scheduling services for all students, working for a greater understanding of each student needs and to provide a greater range of student services and help.
The services provided through the Counseling Department include: individual counseling, small and large group guidance, freshman orientation, new student orientation, scheduling, assistance with post-secondary education, career development, college information (scholarships, financial aid, vocational programs, colleges, application processes, and other), and testing. The counselors work as a team in cooperation with faculty, administration, support staff, parents, and community volunteers to provide these services. Important information for students on test schedules, college and careers, scholarship availability, financial aid and employment opportunities is available here online for the student body on a regular basis by way of announcements, memos, and these PFHS web pages. |
